Transportation Coordinator

Northville Parks and Recreation, a shared service between the City of Northville and Northville Township, is accepting applications for a part-time Transportation Coordinator. The position is a non-union, supervisory position, averaging 16-20 hours per week on a year-round basis. The position is paid hourly with no benefits other than those required by law.

Job Summary: Under the direction of the Senior Services Supervisor, this position is responsible for all aspects of the department’s daily transportation program, meeting the needs of the Northville City and Northville Township residents. Works as part of the Northville Parks and Recreation/Senior Services team, and assists with other departmental functions as needed.

Typical Duties:
Establish daily transportation routes and driver schedules
Recruit, train, schedule and supervise qualified bus drivers
Establish and maintain vehicle maintenance schedules; maintain vehicle inventory
Oversee customer service functions, ensuring the highest standards are maintained
Maintain records, compile data, and prepare reports related to the transportation program
Review and approve time sheets for bus drivers
Communicate with citizens and staff regarding bus route schedules
Prepare transportation program information for newsletter and other marketing

Preferred Qualifications: The successful candidate must have paid experience working in a customer service position, with scheduling or related experience. Supervisory experience is desirable, as well as experience with a transportation program. Must be customer service oriented, able to set priorities and work on multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong communication and organizational skills are required. Strong skill level in the use of personal computers and varied, modern technology devices, and experience using Microsoft Office products is desirable. Minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required; Associates degree or above is preferred.

Compensation: Starting pay $14.00 - $16.00 per hour, DOQ.

Group Fitness Instructor

Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Health & Wellness Coordinator, the employee in this position leads and instructs participants in assigned adult group fitness classes offered by Northville Parks & Recreation.

Duties:
Organize and instruct assigned group fitness classes in accordance with Northville Parks & Recreation monthly fitness schedule and guidelines

Knowledgeable in current fitness trends and instruction methods with a combination of education/training/certification/experience

Ability to observe participants and correct techniques to prevent injury and improve fitness

Ability to offer alternative exercises/poses during class for varying levels of fitness and skills

Customer service oriented; friendly, personable and approachable

Strong listening and motivational skills

Ability/flexibility to substitute for other instructors as needed, often with short notice

Communicates with Health & Wellness Coordinator in regard to participants, classes and program

Required:
Availability and ability to teach morning classes including Barre, TRX, Strength and Cardio classes and Senior classes.

Seasonal Park Worker

Northville Parks and Recreation is accepting applications for Seasonal Park Worker, Monday – Friday 7am – 3pm. Employees in this position provide maintenance services for the Northville Parks & Recreation parks and facilities. Position runs from March 21st through November 11th. This is a seasonal position.

Successful candidates must be at least 18 years of age, have a valid driver’s license, and be able to perform basic maintenance duties. Average work week schedule would be up to 40 hours per week, with occasional flex scheduling depending on work load.

Starting wage is $10 per hour depending on experience. There are no fringe benefits with this position.

Park / Building Attendant – Northville Parks and Recreation

Northville Parks and Recreation is accepting applications for Park/ Building Attendant position – week day/weekend and evening shifts. Employees in this position provide supervision and maintenance services for the Northville Parks & Recreation facilities.

Successful candidates must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid driver’s license, excellent customer service skills, and be able to perform basic maintenance duties. Average work week schedule would be 10 – 20 hours per week, with schedules changing monthly based on park /building usage.

Starting wage is $10 per hour. There are no fringe benefits with this position.
