Winter 2018

Wills, Trusts and Ladybird Deeds- Gary F. Allen, Attorney at Law in Northville
Tuesday, January 16th from 10:30 am -12:00 pm; FREE
Learn how to avoid probate and save thousands of dollars, why you probably don't need a trust, how to put a beneficiary on your home deed and why powers of attorney are your most important estate planning documents. Learn why holding an unrecorded deed may uncap taxes on property at death. Registration deadline is January 12th.

When you no longer can take care of yourself
Tuesday, February 20th from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm; FREE
We will discuss three important aspects of your long term care planning. First, what are the options from home care, assisted living, memory care, nursing care and more. Second, critical care issues such as dementia, licensed vs. unlicensed homes, rehab, socialization and cost. Finally options to pay for the care including insurance, Veterans benefits and Medicaid. Registration deadline is February 16th.

New Medicare Numbers & Fraud - MMAP
Tuesday, February 6th from 10:30 am- 11:30 am; FREE
Now that you signed up for Medicare, find out new changes and fraud schemes associated with Medicare. Volunteers from MMAP (associated with Senior Alliance) will cover everything you need to know and answer questions pertaining to these new changes. Registration deadline is February 2nd.

Heart Health Presentation- St. John's Providence
Wednesday, February 7th from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm; FREE
St. John's Providence will be presenting on how to keep your heart healthy and make lifestyle changes to improve your heart strength. Registration deadline is February 2nd.

Aging in Place & Becoming a Caregiver - No Place Like Home Healthcare
Thursday, February 15th From 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm; FREE
As seniors stay in their homes longer there is a possibility of becoming a caregiver to a significant other or family member. Learn what it means to be a caregiver and also how to adapt your home to help make life easier through the aging process. Registration deadline is February 12th.

AARP Income Tax Preparation Assistance:
Thursdays, February 1st - April 12th from 9:30 am - 4:00 pm; FREE
AARP tax-aide provides free tax assistance to taxpayers with low and middle income, with special attention to those who are 60 and older. Appointments are on Thursdays starting February 1st, 2018.
Appointments are required and will start December 4th, 2017, please call 248-305-2851 to register. There are requirements that are needed at the appointment please inquire when you register.

What you need to know about Required Minimum Distribution- Pat Shope
Tuesday, January 23rd from 10:30 am - 11:30 am; FREE
Managing your Required Distributions are far more complicated than most retirees realize. In this informative class you will learn: Three distribution options to consider when deciding how to meet your RMD's. Registration deadline is February 2nd.

 Social Clubs Winter 2018

Book Club
Tuesday, February 20th from 1:00 - 2:00 pm in the Nield
Curl up with a good book this winter and then come share your thoughts with others. A new book will be announced in every Inspire (every other month). Join us for discussion, coffee, snacks and to pick up the new book on the meeting date below. January/February book: Red Notice by Bill Browder

Get together with your friends or make new ones by signing up to go out to lunch with other Northville Seniors. A local Restaurant will be chosen and reserved for the group. This social group meets once a month at 11:30am. Please register at the senior desk. You will receive a confirmation phone call before the event but you mush register in order to be included in the group reservation.

Meet Meet at the designated restaurant on the day and time of the lunch. Transpiration and payment for your meal is on your own.

If you have some free time or just love to work on puzzles, we always have a community puzzle going at our puzzle station in the Living Room of the Northville Community Center. Finish the puzzle and you get to pick the next one to work on!
